Kombu seaweed is has a unique, umami flavour. It is made by air drying kelp seaweed and laying it flat to dry. The Strips are the stem and leaves the fronds of the kelp plant.

Our Kombu is harvested from the pristine ocean of the North island of New Zealand. One serving (approximately 125ml broth) offers an excellent source of Iodine.

One serving of broth is approximately 125ml of made up broth.

  • Kombu leaves are the blades of the kelp plant. We offer them in 25g or 80g boxes. Kombu leaves offer slightly weaker broth. They can be softened and used to wrap around fish or chicken to bake.
  • Kombu strips are the stems of the kelp plant. We offer them in 40g or 180g boxes. The Kombu strip forms a stronger broth. The strip is tough and spiky and should be placed in a compost bin after soaking.

Ingredients:  Kelp (Ecklonia radiata) dried seaweed 100%.

Country of origin: New Zealand.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Seal securely once opened – seaweeds are hygroscopic and will absorb moisture from the atmosphere around them.

Flavour Bomb…..

Fabulous, nutritious strips of Kombu which I steep overnight in water in the slow cooker. I use this liquid in all my cooking for added nutrition and just love its wonderful Umami flavour. Delicious!
